In love with the Sicilian countryside of Valderice, which in a few kilometers opens to the Mediterranean Sea, Ilaria and Marco together with their three children left Naples and decided to invest in the renovation of an old Sicilian farmhouse, transforming it into a charming and elegant baglio.

Respecting the dictates of local architecture and the splendid context in which it is located, after a careful restoration, Baglio Sant'Andrea has become an elegant and tastefully furnished house, equipped with a swimming pool and surrounded by a flourishing Mediterranean garden consisting mainly of orchards and olive trees.

Erice, a medieval village famous for its ancient Phoenician and Greek history, can be reached in about ten minutes by panoramic cable car. A short distance away is also the historic center of Trapani in which to find the most important monuments of the city: the Cathedral of San Lorenzo in Baroque style adjacent to the Church of the Jesuit College, the Tower of Ligny, the square of the fish market with the North Wind walls and the bastion of S. Anna.Inside the Basilica of Annunziata is the Regional Museum Pepoli that preserves excellent craftsmanship in coral and silver, as well as paintings of the seventeenth Sicilian century, archaeological remains, a grim guillotine and clothes and weapons of the Garibaldi era.

Baglio Sant'Andrea is within short distance from the most beautiful beaches and the clear sea that characterizes Trapani and its surroundings. Moreover, the Egadi Islands - Favignana, Marettimo and Levanzo - are reachable from the port of Trapani, just a few steps from the historical center.

About 26 km far from our B&B you can relax and sunbathe on the famous beach of San Vito Lo Capo, now recognized for years as one of the most beautiful beaches in Italy for its Caribbean sea, near the enchanted Zingaro Nature Reserve. Continuing for a few more kilometers we suggest a visit to the archaeological park of Segesta with its two main monuments, the Doric temple and the Greek theater.

The island of Mozia, a very small island attached to the city of Marsala, is one of the many places where to spend a day full of nature and culture. His history dates back to the Phoenicians as it was a Carthaginian outpost destroyed by Dionysius of Syracuse. This place offers a truly unique landscape, characterized by ancient windmills and white heaps of salt that reflecting the light of the sun at the sunset offer a breathtaking view. Its Museum houses the statue of the Young man with the Tunic, ambassador of Italian culture in the world. Marsala, the ancient Lilybaeum, is also known for the landing of Garibaldi and for its homonymous meditation wine that makes a visit to the historic cellars a must, which will end as per tradition with tastings of local wine.

Continuing south we arrive at Mazara del Vallo, home to the largest fishing fleet in the Mediterranean and treasure chest of one of the most wonderful findings of underwater archeology, the "Dancing Satyr": a bronze statue, original product of Greek art of the classical or Hellenistic period.

The next step will be Castelvetrano with the archaeological park of Selinunte that testifies, through its majestic temples, once again the greatness of Greek civilization in Sicily.
